How to measure?
In practice, there are two ways to measure your new blinds. Option 1 covers only the window space. The second option covers the entire wall.
1. Blinds that cover only the window
Some people prefer the blind to cover only the window space. If this is your case, measurements should be taken as follows:
- Measure from A to B and from C to D, in both directions.
- After measuring, add 20 cm to the smallest width and 15 cm to the smallest height.
- This ensures the fabric fully covers the window and, when the blind is rolled up, the entire window remains visible.
2. Covering the entire wall
On the other hand, some people prefer the blind to cover the window and the surrounding wall space.
- Measure from A to B and from C to D, in both directions.
- After measuring, use only the smallest measurement.
- This ensures the blind fits perfectly.
The influence of the operating system on blind measurements
The fabric width will depend on the operating system chosen:
- Chain operation: the fabric will be 3.5 cm less than the total blind width;
- Mechanical motor operation: the fabric will be 6.5 cm less than the total blind width;
- Motor with remote control: the fabric will be 6.5 cm less than the total blind width;
- Battery motor with remote control: the fabric will be 2.8 cm less than the total blind width.
